We currently grow:

Tayberries, loganberries and tummelberries: these are all raspberry/blackberry hybrids. Tayberries have a sharper taste, logans are a little gentler with tummels having an amazing rich flavour when fully ripe.

Raspberries and blackberries: traditional favourites.

Joastaberries: being a blackcurrant/gooseberry cross these little berries have a very unique flavour – we love Josta Jelly which is ideal as a meat condiment or as a sweet spread. This year we made Josta vodka which went down rather well.

Gooseberries: we grow a selection of red, yellow and green varieties (culinary and dessert). Fancy something different? – try the red dessert fruit in a salad.

Redcurrants and whitecurrants: along with the usual traditional redcurrant jelly they can be added to most desserts to add a luxurious touch.

We have also just planted a selection of other berries – we’ll let you know how they get on.

Something a little different …

Our small area of soft fruit currently contains a selection of hybrid berries alongside some more traditional fruits including raspberries and gooseberries.

Available through our vending machine we are also able to supply larger quantities as needed – please just get in touch. The berries are ready from June until September (season dependent).

We love them in desserts, smoothies and ice cream but have to admit our favourite use is cocktails and for homemade flavoured gins and vodka (perfect for Christmas presents!).
