Sheep

Ryeland sheep are a breed originating from Herefordshire having been firmly established by Leominster monks.  They are a dual purpose sheep producing great 'traditional' tasting meat and also fabulous wool.  The breed is known for its resistance to foot rot and its docile laid back nature and size make them very easy to handle.

2017 was an amazing year for us with Ryeland ewe lamb Roxy taking Breed Champion at Llyswen and Boughrood-Show and Coloured Ryeland ram lamb Xcriss-Xcross (Foxy) taking Reserve Breed Champion and male champion at Bromyard, he was also placed at the Rare Breeds show at Royal Three Counties.

The 'Wookie' flock was started in 2009 and now consists of around 20 breeding ewes.  This season we are using two rams - Minton Untouchable and Cagedale Urishay.  When selecting our stock rams we look for commercial aspects such as long even backs and good hindquarters ensuring lambs are of perfect quality.

The Coloured Ryeland flock 'Bramble' was established shortly afterwards and has produced some wonderful show stock.  Our two rams Chase Tonga and Mansel Wesley have also been hard at work and are now taking a well earned break. Lambing for 2018 has nearly finished, pictures of adorable lambs to follow shortly.

We currently have small selection of ewe lambs from both our white and coloured flocks available for sale.

Several times a year we also sell lamb boxes for the freezer - contact us for more detail.
